About the event

A space for working mothers who are ready to think about what’s next.

You have spent years building a career. Then life happened.

Children. Family. Responsibilities. Choices.

Perhaps your career took a pause. You stepped away for a while, or you are still working, but the version of work you once knew no longer fits the woman you have become.

This is a space to pause, reflect, and explore what could come next without having to figure it all out alone.

YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR CAREER GAP. A career break can change your CV. It doesn’t erase your experience, your capabilities, your ambitions, or everything you have learnt along the way.

Returning to work can bring questions:

  • Where do I even begin?

  • Do I still have what it takes?

  • What kind of work do I want now?

  • How do I balance work and family this time around?

  • How do I rebuild my confidence without pretending the gap never happened?

  • And sometimes, the hardest part is having a safe space to talk about these questions honestly.

That’s what Impact Circles Launchpad is about. This is a small, facilitated circle for mothers navigating work, career, and identity alongside family life. Our facilitators are mothers who continue to work in the corporate sector.

They understand first-hand the realities of:

  • returning to work after a break

  • managing competing priorities

  • rebuilding confidence

  • navigating career decisions as a mother

  • figuring out what success means now

  • making space for yourself while caring for others

This isn't a lecture or a job-placement programme. And you don't need to arrive with a five-year career plan. You simply need to be willing to explore what's next.

WHAT WILL WE EXPLORE?

Over 6 sessions, we will create space for conversation, reflection, and practical exploration.

Session 1 - IDENTITY RESET

Focus: Reclaiming professional identity

The problem: After several years away from paid employment, many mothers begin to define themselves primarily through their caregiving role. The longer the gap, the easier it becomes to internalise:  “I am just a mum now.” / “My professional identity is outdated.” / “Other people have moved ahead.” / “I don't have anything relevant anymore.” / “Who would hire me after all these years?”

Objective:

Participants will:

  • reconnect with their professional identity;

  • identify strengths, capabilities and values that remain relevant;

  • separate professional identity from job title;

  • recognise capabilities developed during the career break;

  • begin shifting from an identity of “returner” to “professional with experience.”

Focus: Owning the career gap

The Problem: The career gap often becomes the centre of the candidate's story. This creates “gap anxiety”, the fear that recruiters or interviewers will immediately reject them because they have been away from work for too long. Participants may therefore over-explain the gap; apologise for it; become defensive; minimise their previous experience; struggle when asked “What have you been doing?”

Objective: Participants will learn to construct a clear, confident and authentic professional narrative that explains their career break without allowing it to define their future.

Focus: Designing a sustainable return

The Problem - Career readiness is not only about getting a job. A woman may successfully return to work and still struggle if she has not considered: energy; family responsibilities; support systems; boundaries; expectations; workload; emotional resilience; guilt; perfectionism. The risk is that burnout begins before the re-entry has even stabilised.

Objective: Participants will develop a realistic understanding of what they need to do return to work sustainably.

Session 4 - TECH COMFORT

Focus: Building confidence with modern workplace tools and AI, and learning to use them to improve efficiency across family, personal and job-search commitments.

The Problem: The issue is often not an inability to learn technology. It is the fear: “Everything has changed while I was away.”  Participants may feel intimidated by:

  • AI/ collaborative platforms/ digital communication/ productivity tools;

  • remote/hybrid work; new workplace terminology;

  • younger colleagues who appear more technologically fluent.

This session is not technical training. Participants will not be expected to master specific tools. Instead, the goal is to build: confidence + curiosity + learning agility.

Objective: Participants will be guided on how to:

  • reduce anxiety around workplace technology;

  • understand the broad shifts in modern work;

  • identify areas where they need to refresh knowledge;

  • develop a learning mindset;

  • practise asking questions without feeling inadequate.

Session 5 - MARKET-FIT & PITCH LAB

Focus - Understanding where I fit

The problem: After a long career gap, women often ask: “What job can I get?”. A better starting question is: “Where can my experience create value today?”.  Without this shift, participants apply randomly; undersell themselves; apply only to roles identical to their old roles; struggle to explain transferable skills; feel rejected repeatedly; lose confidence.

Objective: Participants will identify realistic areas of market fit and learn to articulate their professional value clearly.

Session 6 - THE ECOSYSTEM BLUEPRINT

Focus: Turning readiness into a re-entry strategy

The problem: Many career returners finish preparation feeling, “I am ready,” but readiness without action can remain abstract. The final challenge is converting readiness into a realistic route back into the ecosystem.

Objective: Participants will identify concrete pathways, relationships, and actions that can move them towards re-entry.

YOU WON'T BE DOING IT ALONE. Impact Circles Launchpad brings together a small group of mothers who are navigating similar questions.

  • You will have space to REFLECT

  • CONNECT your experiences, choices, and aspirations.

  • LEARN with other mothers who understand the realities of this stage of life.

  • EXPLORE perspectives and practical tools from facilitators who have lived and continue to navigate these challenges themselves.

  • ACT on all possibilities without the pressure to have all the answers.

  • Leave with greater CLARITY about your next step.
